The Association includes 23 mayoralties of the district. Its goal is to improve the quality of public services, attract investments and implement regional projects. The initiative is implemented within the EU4Moldova: Key Regions program, funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP and UNICEF. It supports smart, inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development of the Cahul and Ungheni regions, improving the quality of life of the local population. The total budget of the program is EUR 23 million.
“The creation of the Ungheni Inter-Community Development Association is an important step in institutionalizing and implementing cooperation between communities for harmonious local and regional development. We are sure that joining the efforts of authorities of different levels in Ungheni district will allow implementing joint projects, which are so much awaited by the residents,” said Inna Olearciuc, Acting Director of Ungheni MDA.
One of the main objectives of Ungheni MDA is the modernization of the local infrastructure, which is important for economic development and improvement of the quality of life. Through joint planning, local authorities and MDA will analyze the current state of infrastructure and propose solutions for the expansion and improvement of public services. It will also identify priority investments that can be jointly implemented for the sustainable development of the region.
A similar “MDA Cahul” is planned to be established in the near future.
