“The Republic of Moldova has two neighbors, and we are fortunate that both are our good friends, with whom we share a commitment to the fundamental values of our civilization—peace, freedom, and democracy. The fact that today, on Independence Day, you are both here in Chisinau has special significance for us.”
Maia Sandu noted the role of Romania and Ukraine in the development of the Republic of Moldova over the past 35 years and spoke about the relations between the three countries.
“Over the past 35 years, we have learned that independence becomes stronger when it is based on strong ties. Therefore, we know what kind of country we want to be for our neighbors: a good neighbor, a reliable friend, a security partner. This is our goal—to be a state that ensures security for its citizens and those around us: Ukraine, Romania, and the European Union, which we are preparing to join.”
The Moldovan President emphasized that Romania and Ukraine have played an important role in Moldova’s European path and in ensuring its security.
