According to the draft resolution, this concerns the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Republic of Latvia on the Recognition and Exchange of Driver’s Licenses, signed in Riga on May 19, 2025.
The plan is to authorize an official delegation to conduct negotiations with the Latvian side on behalf of the Moldovan authorities and to finalize the provisions of the document.
The document is intended to establish the necessary mechanisms for the practical implementation of the two countries’ agreements on the recognition and exchange of driver’s licenses.
The draft document was prepared by Moldova’s Ministries of Internal Affairs and Foreign Affairs.
The negotiations will take place after the Government approves the relevant resolution.
Moldova and Latvia maintain close political dialogue, including in the context of Moldova’s European integration and regional security. In April 2026, President Maia Sandu paid an official visit to Latvia.
