“We are currently engaged in a dialogue with them in the form of negotiations. They will begin on Monday afternoon,” Trump said, as quoted by DW.
The president did not specify who would participate in the meeting or where it would take place. Trump also added that he does not intend to set a deadline for concluding a deal.
The president stated that the White House has decided to refrain from launching new strikes against Iran in order to give a diplomatic resolution to the conflict a chance.
“This will save many lives,” Trump noted.
He also suggested that a deal between Washington and Tehran would address issues related to the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program.
