“Yellow Code” fire danger warning extended by one week

The forest fire warning alert (“yellow code”) has been extended for another week across the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova—the second time this July. Concurrently with this measure, the Meteorological and Environmental Monitoring Agency has issued a “yellow alert” for the period from August 1 to August 3 due to abnormal heat.

According to the agency’s forecast, air temperatures in Moldova will rise to +33–36 degrees Celsius during the specified period.

Due to a lack of moisture and hot weather, agricultural land continues to burn across the country. Recently, a fire engulfed about 100 hectares of dry vegetation and crop residues near the village of Ivanovka (Ribnita District, Transnistria).
