The funds will be allocated for stage setup, technical support, logistics, artists’ fees, and other expenses necessary to hold the festive concert at the Great National Assembly Square. The state agency “Moldova-Concert,” which reports to the Ministry of Culture, will manage the budget and enter into contracts with contractors following a public procurement process.
The national program brings together more than 20 cultural, educational, commemorative, and festive events that will take place by the end of the year at the national and local levels. These include exhibitions dedicated to history and cultural heritage, events for young people, the Maria Bieșu International Opera and Ballet Festival, European Heritage Days, as well as events marking the 100th anniversary of the Mihai Eminescu National Theater.
On August 27, an official wreath-laying ceremony, a military parade, and a festive concert will take place in the Great National Assembly Square. The Ministry of Defense will be responsible for organizing the military parade, while the Ministry of Culture will oversee the concert program, which will feature exclusively artists from the Republic of Moldova.
The Ministry of Culture has called on local public authorities, cultural institutions, the academic community, and civil society organizations to join the National Program and hold their own events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.
In addition, the authorities decided to cancel this year’s traditional concert, which is held annually on August 31, Romanian Language Day, citing the need to reduce spending on celebratory events.
