These goals are set out in the National Tourism Development Program for 2026–2029, “Tourism 2029.” The document has been published and has entered into force.
A key aspect of the program is the development of a state aid mechanism designed to promote tourism in the regions, as well as the creation of regional investment profiles for the industry.
The document provides for the improvement of the sector’s regulatory framework. Specifically, this includes the development of guidelines for the development of cultural routes in accordance with EU regulations, an investment map of Moldova’s balneological and health resort facilities, as well as regulations governing the operation of tourism destination management organizations.
Overall, the program calls for a review and optimization of the existing regulatory framework in the tourism sector to simplify administrative procedures and reduce bureaucratic burdens.
There are also plans to assist regional development agencies in developing programs to enhance the regions’ appeal to tourists, as well as to foster partnerships between national and international educational institutions in implementing tourism programs.
Plans also include implementing a training program for small and medium-sized enterprises on adopting sustainable tourism practices and introducing a mechanism for non-repayable project funding.
As previously reported by Logos Press, 618.2 million lei have been allocated for the program’s implementation.
