According to the State Tax Service’s press office, fines totaling 1,280,550 lei were imposed as a result.

During inspections conducted by the agency, illegal activities were uncovered in several sectors of the economy. Most frequently, these activities were found in the retail sector (81%), including via online platforms (1%), in the service sector (10%), and in passenger transportation via taxis (8%).

When illegal business activities by individuals are detected, tax authorities issue a violation report. Violators are subject to penalties in the form of fines ranging from 1,500 to 4,500 lei, along with the confiscation of income and goods obtained.

In this context, the State Tax Service urges citizens to voluntarily comply with their tax obligations. It also reminds citizens that individuals engaged in economic activities are required to register and comply with legal requirements. Failure to do so results in penalties, as well as the loss of fundamental rights, such as access to social protection or pensions.

The National Tax Service also emphasizes that it provides support to all taxpayers, including new entrepreneurs, by supplying the necessary information to conduct business activities in accordance with current legislation.
