The agency urged “farmers and the public to strictly follow biosecurity measures and not to use leftover food of animal origin in feeding pigs to prevent further spread of the virus.”

Judging by the information disseminated by ANSA, very high risks of ASF spread also remain in the EU countries. In particular, 9 wild boars with plague were found dead in Romania and 17 in Hungary.

Earlier, sanitary and veterinary departments of the EU countries reported about the detection of cases of foot-and-mouth disease. This also entails the establishment of quarantine zones, with bans on the transportation of domestic animals, including pigs, through them.
