Authorities predict that the wage bill will be passed by parliament in July.
“Once the law is passed by parliament in July, we will start working on promoting and amending the government’s decree to put the new law into effect so that we can make these payments under the updated regulatory framework starting in the fall, as we committed to do,” Savva said.
The representatives of the ministries did not provide specific data on the new law, while the Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru called for “a little more patience”:
“Please have a little more patience and soon both the concept note and all the provisions will be available and there will certainly be space for discussions. At the moment, we are not ready to announce the essence of the upcoming changes”.
Regarding the minimum wage, the Minister reminded that the implementation of the EU Directive on Adequate Minimum Wage, which recommends states to aim for a level of 40-50% of the average wage, is currently underway.
“This is not a mandatory measure, it is of a recommendatory nature, but we are making the necessary changes to include this provision,” the minister concluded.
