Revenues and expenditures of the MHI are growing unevenly

In January-April 2025, the revenues of the compulsory health insurance (CMI) funds amounted to 3.95 billion lei, up by 25% compared to the same period last year

Revenues and expenditures of the MHI are growing unevenly

According to the National Company of Medical Insurance, most of the revenues of the MHI funds were made up of medical insurance contributions paid as a percentage of salary. They amounted to about 2.9 billion lei, which is 30% more than in the same period last year.

Contributions for health insurance in the fixed amount were at LE 0.3 billion, 26.5% more than in January-April last year. Other revenues, including insurance premiums paid by residents of information technology parks, amounted to about 86 million lei – 9.5% more.

As for the expenditures of the MHI funds, they amounted to 5.3 billion lei in four months – by 6% more than in the same period of 2024. This amount was mainly transferred under contracts with providers of medical and pharmaceutical services – hospitals, polyclinics, medical centers, producers and importers of medicines.
