Purcari buys a winery in Romania

The company announced this in a press release published on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

The acquisition of SERVE Ceptura will allow the Purcari group of wineries to increase the area of its vineyards by about 60 hectares and add additional production capacity.

SERVE Ceptura is a recognized producer in the Romanian market, producing approximately 0.5 million bottles per year.

“We are at the beginning of a new chapter in which we aim to preserve the traditions and strong roots of the prestigious wine region of Dealu Mare and further strengthen the Purcari Group’s presence in the area. We respect the legacy left by Guy de Poix at SERVE Ceptura and appreciate the way his family has responsibly and enthusiastically continued it, preserving the uniqueness of authentic Romanian wine brands that reflect the terroir and special heritage.

Being, in turn, committed to authenticity and terroir, we want to integrate, support and strengthen SERVE brands that tell a true story of origin, of passion for authenticity and excellence. At the same time, building on the international openness of the Purcari Wineries group, we aim to further strengthen the presence of Moldova and Romania on the world wine markets”, said Victor Bostan, founder and CEO of Purcari Wineries.

A difficult decision

“The decision to take this step did not come easily to us. It is an important step. A step that comes with emotion, nostalgia, but also great responsibility. We took this decision because we are convinced that our brands and the heritage we cherish will have an even stronger future in a group with international presence, resources, capabilities and a global vision. I believe that true continuity means being able to let a dream grow and develop, so for us this is a statement of trust.

SERVE is more than a business, it is part of our family identity, our history and dream, which began in 1993 with Guy (Count Guy Tirel de Poix). Out of passion for people and wine, we created a company that promoted and maintained confidence in Romania’s extraordinary wine potential. I remain deeply grateful to our team, partners, local community and everyone who loves SERVE wines,” replied Mihaela de Poix, co-founder of SERVE Ceptura.

SERVE Ceptura SRL, founded in 1994 by Count Guy Tirel de Poix and Mihaela Tirel de Poix, is the first private winery in Romania established after 1989.

Purcari continues to expand

The Purcari Wineries group is currently controlled by Maspex Romania, which acquired a majority stake from Purcari as part of a voluntary takeover, whereby it managed to centralize a 72.08% stake. In doing so, Victor Bostan was among the sellers.

On the other hand, Amboselt Universal, with which Bostan secured a concentration of shares, retained about 15% of the shares.

Maspex Romania is part of the Maspex Group, the largest private company in the Polish food industry and one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe, with more than 30 years of history in the food market. The group’s products are distributed in more than 60 countries on all continents except Antarctica.

Purcari entered the regulated market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange at the beginning of 2018 through a public offering, with well-known players in the Western investment market as buyers.

Purcari Wineries Public Company Limited (owning the brands: Purcari, Crama Ceptura, Bostavan, Bardar, Domeniile Cuza and Angel’s Estate) is one of the largest wine and brandy groups in Central and Eastern Europe.

The group manages approximately 2,000 hectares of vineyards and has seven production sites in Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria.

Purcari winery is the leader in the premium wine segment in Romania and the largest exporter of wine from the Republic of Moldova, supplying products to more than 40 countries.

In April 2026, Purcari (through its owned company Crama Ceptura) acquired CaraprodVin winery, located in Varstecoiu commune, Vrancea county, Romania.
