If you find yourself in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, and are looking for a spot to enjoy a view of the city and watch the sky turn shades of orange and pink at sunset, you can do so at the rotating restaurant at the top of the TV tower, which recently reopened.
Located about 165 meters above the ground is Paukščių takas, the Milky Way panoramic restaurant, which completes a full 360-degree rotation every hour.
As Euronews notes , this is one of the highest restaurants in the EU. Only Berlin’s Sphere Restaurant, located at a height of 207 meters, is higher. The renovated restaurant has taken an unusual approach to its wine list: it features only wines from vineyards located at an altitude of more than 165 meters above sea level.
As for the cuisine, the menu is built around seasonal Lithuanian ingredients and offers a modern take on national dishes.
There are other ways to see the city
The Vilnius TV Tower is a great way to see the city, but there’s an alternative.
Vilnius is one of the few European capitals where hot air balloons are allowed to fly over the city center, and in the summer, at dawn and dusk, the sky above the city is filled with dozens of balloons.
From above, you can enjoy views of the Neris River and the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including Gediminas Tower.
