The Regulation establishes clear requirements for the approval of measures for the protection of historic monuments and introduces a Compliance Report reflecting their current status. It regulates such aspects as the content of the package of documents submitted to the Council, the procedure for their consideration, the types of decisions taken and the appeal procedure.

“Within three months, the CNMI must submit to the government and the public a public report on its activities. We must find solutions to combat the destruction of monuments without hindering the activities of bona fide persons,” Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

The transparency of the Council’s activity is also ensured by including representatives of the civil society in its composition. The regulation establishes the requirements for candidates, the procedure for selecting and appointing the members of the Council, as well as the cases of membership termination. The Council will consist of 13 members, whose work will be paid.
