The positive decision on the candidate country’s accession was taken on March 6, during a working visit of the Moldovan delegation to Brussels.
According to Anca Dragu, NBM President, membership in SEPA will contribute to faster, safer and more accessible international payments in euro for Moldovan citizens and enterprises.
“Joining SEPA marks a historic moment and a clear proof that Moldova is ready to meet the highest financial standards,” Anca Dragu said.
SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) allows cross-border transfers in euros without significant international transaction costs. Thanks to this event, the country becomes a part of the European financial system, which facilitates its economic integration into the European space.
