The contest is a popular one: Romanian and Moldovan citizens have been voting for this or that destination for over a month online. Moldova is participating for the second year, and this time seven of our tourist destinations have reached the finals in the following categories:

– “Inspiring Cities”: Chisinau municipality;

– Enchanted Lands: Plaiul Fagului Nature Reserve;

– “Fairytale Villages”: Cira village, Floresti district;

– “Entertainment and Adventures”: equestrian sports complex “Kazak Club”;

– “Culture and Education”: “Old Orhei” reserve and “CRICOVA” complex;

– “Best Promotion”: mun. Chisinau and Văleni eco-village.

These destinations ended up in the final along with another 70 competitors from the neighboring country.

As a result of the general voting, the tourist complex “Cricova” became the winner in its nomination. This event proves once again: “Cricova” is no longer just a tourist destination, but an authentic experience where wine traditions glorify Moldovan winemaking in a unique manner.

As the organizers of the contest noted, Moldova’s participation in such a project increases the country’s visibility and image on the Romanian tourism market. And Romania is our key partner in the strategy of attracting foreign tourists. Therefore, the award received by “Cricova” is also a strong signal that Moldova is becoming a reference destination for cultural and wine tourism in Eastern Europe.

In 2024, the winner of the Destination of the Year award was the village of Valeni, and the Lower Prut Valley was recognized in the category “Best Promotion”.
