As a reminder, the lawsuit was filed because the foreign ministry of a neighboring country had barred him from entering Romania. Today, the court ruled in favor of the minister.
Ceban is challenging the measure and emphasizes that the ban was imposed “on order” two months before the campaign for Moldova’s parliamentary elections with the aim of isolating him and blocking his meetings with the diaspora.
“To this day, I have not been presented with a single document or act confirming or underpinning the decision taken against me,” Cheban noted.
The mayor added that he has informed embassies and international organizations about this case and announced that he will utilize all legal remedies in Romanian and international courts.
In his statement, the MAN leader described the government of the neighboring country—which includes the aforementioned foreign minister—as one notorious for raising taxes, burdening the state with debt, and ceding strategic assets.
At the same time, he assured that the case currently before the court would not affect bilateral projects being implemented by the municipality in cooperation with Romanian partners.
