“The company has a strong position on the market, being one of the main producers of glass containers in the Republic of Moldova, with a share of about 30% on the domestic market and exports to more than 30 countries. This creates a sustainable basis for attracting a strategic investor capable of realizing the existing potential,” APP states.
According to the ministry, maintaining the company’s activity profile is important for the agro-industrial sector, as the plant “is a stable supplier of glass containers for domestic producers of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as for the food processing sector”.
In 2018-2019, the glass factory was already tried to be sold, but no buyers were found. In 2024, the authorities announced their intention to privatize it.
In April 2025, APP announced a tender for the valuation of the plant. It was needed to determine the real market value of the assets and to calculate how much should be invested in the enterprise to make it fully operational.
SE “Chisinau Glass Plant” was founded in 1970 and is the largest enterprise of the glass industry in Moldova. The area of the plant is 14.4 ha, the area of the main workshops is 24 thousand m², the area of auxiliary workshops is 10.8 thousand m², the area of storage facilities is 13.2 thousand m².
The main products of the enterprise are colorless glass bottles of 0.1-3.0 liter capacity of various configurations with ordinary and screw neck and glass jars of colorless glass of 0.1-5.0 liter capacity of various configurations (type I and twist-off).
