Belous will replace Marian

As Logos Press had anticipated, Radu Marian will be replaced as chair of the parliamentary committee on the economy, budget, and finance by his colleague from the PAS faction, MP Victoria Belous, who is currently the committee’s vice chair and a former finance minister. Marian will, however, remain vice-chair of the same committee.

In addition, Radu Marian will be removed from the Standing Bureau—the parliament’s governing body. Victoria Belous will also take his place on the bureau. These changes are provided for in a draft resolution that has been added to the agenda of the parliamentary session scheduled for Thursday, July 2.

As a reminder, on Monday, June 29, Radu Marian announced his resignation as chair of the parliamentary committee on the economy, budget, and finance.

This decision was made amid a scandal involving inflated salaries at the state-owned enterprise MoldATSA. The lawmaker took personal responsibility for recommending the individual who found himself at the center of this case. In a post on his social media page, Radu Marian emphasized that the situation surrounding the problems at MoldATSA had dealt a blow to the credibility of the entire ruling team.

“I admit that I misjudged the person I recommended, having placed my trust in him. I was unaware of the salary payment irregularities that were taking place there. Now the Audit Commission and the Financial Inspectorate must investigate these cases of financial violations,” the lawmaker said, condemning such behavior.
