The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is launching three major investment projects aimed at strengthening the state border. The projects have already undergone expert evaluation and received the green light from a government working group.

The modernization is aimed at bringing the border control system in line with European Union standards. The program includes the construction of new facilities and the introduction of modern surveillance technologies in the south and north of the country.

In particular, it is about the construction of a building for the Border Police unit “Copceac” of the regional directorate “South” of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, Taraclia, at an estimated cost of 34.93 million lei.

A stationary video surveillance system will be installed in the “Gotesti” sector (Cantemir district). The cost of high-tech equipment and installation works is estimated at 5.56 million lei.

A similar stationary surveillance system will be installed in the northern part of the border – in the town of Otaci (Ocnita district). The sum of 5.56 million lei is also earmarked for this purpose.

Thus, the total volume of investments amounts to 46.06 million lei.

The realization of these objects will be an important step in the fulfillment of Moldova’s commitments to ensure the security of the regional borders and to prepare for the integration into the European space.
