According to the lawmaker, after Energocom assumed the role of natural gas supplier, the company decided to develop a new billing platform, signing a contract worth approximately 18 million lei. He emphasized that these costs will subsequently be included in the rate, meaning that consumers will ultimately bear them.
“The contract was signed in November, and the system was supposed to be up and running by June 1. Today, we see the reality: it is not functioning. Bills for June will not be issued until August, and until then, people are being asked to pay in advance,” said Constantin Cuiumju.
The lawmaker also criticized the company’s management, noting that Energocom’s CEO earns more than one million lei per year, while the project—on which millions in public funds were spent—was never completed by the deadline.
“Energocom’s CEO reports an income of over one million lei per year, yet the company’s management is unable to launch a system on which millions in public funds were spent,” he emphasized.
Constantin Cuiumju also questioned the need to purchase a new information system, noting that, according to available information, the company already had a functioning billing platform.
In this regard, Constantin Kuyumju stated that he intends to request that the CEO of Energocom appear before Parliament to provide an explanation.
“I want Energocom’s CEO to clearly explain why 18 million lei were spent, who will be held accountable for the fact that the system still isn’t working, and what the rationale was for this purchase,” said the Our Party lawmaker.
