
Falk Lange and Mihai Popșoi
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement notes that Mihai Popșoi thanked Falk Lange for his contribution to the development of the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe, highlighting the organization’s role in promoting democratic reforms, strengthening the rule of law, protecting human rights, and developing state institutions.
According to the Moldovan foreign minister, Falk Lange’s tenure coincided with one of the most important periods in the country’s modern history, when the Council of Europe’s expert and technical support contributed to the implementation of key reforms and Moldova’s progress toward European integration.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the results of their cooperation, including the implementation of measures under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova for 2025–2028.
Special attention was given to continuing the dialogue on Moldova’s transition to the post-monitoring phase of its cooperation with the Council of Europe, as well as to leveraging the organization’s expertise in the country’s preparations for EU accession.
Falk Lange, in turn, spoke highly of the cooperation with the Moldovan authorities and noted the progress achieved in recent years. He expressed confidence that cooperation between Moldova and the Council of Europe would continue to contribute to the strengthening of democratic institutions and the implementation of reforms.
