According to him, NATO’s security depends not only on military capabilities, but also on the unity of member states and their ability to develop joint technological and industrial resources.

Speaking at an official event in Istanbul as part of a meeting of the speakers of NATO member countries’ parliaments, Perestrelu stated that his goal is to promote the creation of a “safer, stronger, and more modern” alliance. This was reported by the Turkish news agency Anadolu.

Markus Perestrelu noted that developing defense capabilities alone is not enough. According to him, NATO countries need to increase the production capacity of their defense industries, strengthen political cooperation, and build trust among allies.

“We need to build up the capacity of our defense industry. At the same time, we must continue to strengthen our unity and solidarity, build mutual trust, and reinforce the political and personal ties between us,” said the head of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
