Moldova has signed an agreement with the UN on industrial development

As part of his working visit to Austria, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugen Osmochescu met with Gerd Müller, Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Gerd Müller, during which the Country Partnership Program for the Republic of Moldova for 2026–2032 was officially signed.

The program establishes a strategic framework for cooperation between Moldova and UNIDO and aims to support sustainable industrial development, enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, and promote the “green” and digital transitions as well as Moldova’s European integration process.

During the discussions, Deputy Prime Minister Eugen Osmochescu highly commended UNIDO’s support for the modernization of the national economy and emphasized the importance of the new program for attracting investment, developing skills, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and creating new jobs.

In addition, the officials explored opportunities to expand cooperation, including the possibility of implementing initiatives in the Republic of Moldova aimed at strengthening industrial resilience and transferring modern technologies, following the model of other successful projects.

The signing of this agreement reaffirms a shared commitment to building a more competitive, innovative, and sustainable national economy.

The agenda for the visit to Vienna also included an important economic component, organized with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Austria. The Deputy Prime Minister took part in a meeting with representatives of Austrian companies from strategic sectors such as industry, energy, logistics, and transportation, which served as a platform for dialogue on investment opportunities and prospects for deepening economic cooperation between the two countries. Osmochescu presented the government’s priorities in the areas of economic development and digitalization.
