GEO CODEX

As part of this project, from June 8 to 17, 2026, the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography, and Cadastre (AGCC) held a series of key events aimed at strengthening the Republic of Moldova’s institutional capacity in the field of national spatial data infrastructure to meet European Union standards.

GEO CODEX is a cross-border project for the exchange of expertise in the fields of democracy and good governance between Moldova and the Netherlands. It is implemented under the Matra Government-to-Government 2025–2029 program, funded by the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

From June 8 to 17, an intensive training program was organized to develop skills in public policy development and spatial data management. The agency’s specialists delved into the key aspects of evidence-based policy development, strategic planning, and the harmonization of the national spatial data framework with European standards.

Subsequently, the AGCC brought together representatives from central and local government agencies, academia, and the relevant sector for a workshop on the exchange of experiences titled “The Practical Application of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure in National and Cross-Border Cooperation.”

Experiences from the EU and Romania

The event provided a platform for dialogue on European models of spatial data management, challenges in data exchange between agencies, and opportunities for developing regional cooperation.

A key highlight of the seminar was a presentation on Romania’s experience in implementing the INSPIRE Directive, supported by the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising (ANCPI), which highlighted the institutional and technical mechanisms necessary for developing an interoperable and effective national spatial data infrastructure.

The series of events concluded with the second meeting of the GEO CODEX Project’s Strategic Coordination Committee on June 17, 2026, during which the results achieved in the first year of implementation were evaluated and priorities for the next period were identified.
