Igor Grosu
Grosu emphasized the importance of mobilizing support for the 2027 local elections, the 2028 presidential election, and the 2029 parliamentary elections.
Speaking about the local elections, Igor Grosu stated that the time has come to elect a “truly European mayor of Chisinau.”
“In the local elections, our goal is to increase the number of mayoral seats won under the PAS banner from 35% to 50%. We must secure victory in 50% of the municipalities. And I believe the time has come—to be honest, we’re a little late—to elect a truly pro-European mayor in Chisinau. And to secure the budget in the capital, we must also win a majority in the Chisinau Municipal Council. This may be difficult, but it is not impossible. We must also strive for better results in urban districts,” stated the PAS chairman.
Another “very important test,” in his words, will be the 2028 presidential election:
“I am confident that we all understand how critically important these elections are. Our task is to bring the next PAS president to power. This is necessary so that this head of state can sign the Treaty of Accession to the European Union.”
At the same time, Igor Grosu noted that “this president and our pro-European PAS mayors need very strong political support in parliament.”
“That is precisely why, in 2029, PAS must achieve the best electoral result and secure the largest number of parliamentary seats. This will allow us to ensure a stable pro-European parliamentary majority, which will subsequently ratify the Accession Treaty at the national level,” the speaker stated.
During the event, Igor Grosu noted that despite the fact that the European Union voted unanimously to open negotiations on the first chapters of the cluster on fundamental values, Moldova is only halfway there.
“And for us, as a party, the most difficult stage is beginning. These will be years of reform. We are talking about long-overdue reforms that should have been carried out 20 years ago. We will carry them out with the same purpose with which we began 10 years ago, because we bear responsibility for this.”
At the congress, the party elected its governing bodies.
It is worth noting that the PAS structure includes 37 regional and 627 local organizations. The party plans to expand its presence in Taraclia and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, as well as strengthen its positions in at least 11 countries of the diaspora.
