According to Euronews, citing the National Institute of Statistics (INE), 26.5 million foreign tourists visited the country from January through April, a 3.4% increase from the previous year, official data shows.

The UK remained the largest source market: approximately 1.7 million tourists arrived from the UK in April—a 2.7% increase year-over-year. France ranked second with 1.3 million arrivals (+5.1%), while Germany saw a 9.1% decline to 1.2 million tourists.

Catalonia once again became the top destination for foreign visitors, accounting for 20.8% of all arrivals. It was followed by Andalusia and the Valencian Community.

April was one of the strongest months in terms of growth over the past year, accelerating momentum after a relatively subdued start to 2026.

Given that nearly 27 million foreigners visited Spain from January through April, the industry has a real chance of surpassing the 100 million annual visitor mark.
