
The company attributed the decline to the temporary closure of a KFC restaurant in the MallDova shopping center in Chisinau. The outlet, opened back in 2008, moved to a new site in March, which affected the quarterly results.
Despite the decline in sales, Sphera continues to expand its chain in Moldova. At the end of March, the group opened its first KFC restaurant in Balti – it opened in the EviMall shopping center and became the chain’s fourth restaurant in the country.
In addition, Sphera has already launched the Taco Bell brand on the Moldovan market. According to the data, the company considers Moldova as one of the areas of further growth and plans to continue investing in the expansion of the chain.
Now four KFC restaurants operate in Moldova under the management of US Food Network Moldova. The controlling stake (80%) belongs to Sphera Franchise Group. Another 10% is owned by Dorin Recean, Prime Minister of Moldova, and Traian-Catalin Josan, manager of Pro TV Moldova.
At the same time by results of 2025 the Moldavian business of KFC showed one of the highest growth rates within the group. The chain’s sales in Moldova then grew by almost 20% and exceeded 28 mln RON.
