According to the project, medical prescriptions issued in EU Member States for a specific patient will be recognized in Moldova for medicines officially authorized for sale on the Moldovan market.
At the same time, the authorities envisage a number of restrictions. A refusal to recognize a prescription will be possible, for example, if there are reasonable doubts about its authenticity or composition.
The competent authorities will take measures within their powers to ensure continuity of treatment if the prescription is issued in an EU country for medicines available in Moldova.
In addition, the draft provides for the possibility of remote sale of medicines via the Internet for licensed pharmacies, subject to notification of the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices.
The legislative initiative was authored by MPs from the PAS majority faction, Adrian Bely and Ana Oglinda, members of the commission for social protection, health and family. The document is still under consideration in the standing committees of the legislature.
