Currently, the legislation in force does not provide for the possibility of export of a temporarily imported vehicle by third parties. This creates difficulties in situations when the person who entered the territory of Moldova with this vehicle is already outside the territory, cannot arrive at the border or for other reasons is not able to personally carry out the export procedure. In such cases, there is a risk of exceeding the established period of temporary stay of the vehicle (180 days within 12 consecutive months) and, as a consequence, the application of customs sanctions.
“The purpose of this project is to supplement the Customs Code with a provision allowing the export of temporarily imported vehicles not only by the person who imported them, but also by other persons. This eliminates the existing legal gap, which in practice creates difficulties and the risk of sanctions,” said one of the authors of the initiative, a member of the parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance Konstantin Kuyumzhu (Our Party faction).
The bill was supported by the specialized commission, as well as a positive opinion of the government. The initiative will be considered by the parliament in two readings. If adopted, it will make it possible to avoid practical difficulties for citizens, first of all for representatives of the Moldovan diaspora abroad.
