The event brought together experts from the European Union as well as members of the Customs Service working group who will support the development and promotion of the necessary regulatory, institutional, procedural and technical measures.
The initiative is supported by the EU project “Moldova-Europe – Support to European Union Integration” with the aim of strengthening the institutional capacity of national authorities in the process of aligning them with EU legislation, including in the field of digitalization of customs procedures and data exchange between authorities.
The general and specific objectives of the project were presented at the meeting, aimed at supporting the implementation of the reform program related to the Growth Plan for the period 2025-2027. Particular attention was paid to the development of a national Single Window for Customs, as the project was conceived as a preparatory phase including analysis of the existing structure, assessment of the legal and institutional framework, and definition of the future operating model.
At the same time, the main components of the European Single Window for Customs were presented, including the role of the EU CSW-CERTEX system, a European platform enabling the electronic exchange of data and documents between customs authorities and other competent institutions, in particular for the management of non-customs formalities such as permits, certificates, prohibitions and restrictions.
The meeting stressed the importance of strengthening inter-institutional cooperation and organizing technical sessions dedicated to the transfer of knowledge on the EU framework for the Single Customs Window, and highlighted the role of effective coordination between authorities and the development of an interoperable system capable of ensuring fast, secure and efficient data exchange.
