Parliament ratified in two readings the Agreement with IDLO, consolidating the legal status, privileges and immunities of this intergovernmental structure in our country.

The International Development Law Organization has been actively working with Moldovan state institutions since 2018. The official recognition of the organization’s status will allow expanding the expert and technical assistance aimed at strengthening the rule of law and increasing the transparency of the judicial system in Moldova.

Eduard Serbenco, State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice: “The Republic of Moldova is not a member of this organization and does not pay membership fees. This is a kind of unilateral interaction within the presence of this international organization here. You don’t tax the organization, but it provides technical assistance, know-how, funding and international projects. These are benefits that the country will receive and benefit from the presence of the organization in Moldova”.

IDLO is an intergovernmental organization headquartered in Rome. It has 40 member states, but its activities cover more than 90 countries. Its work is mainly aimed at strengthening the legislative and institutional framework in order to strengthen the capacity of legal institutions.
