Azerbaijan’s economy started 2026 with growth of 1.7% in a month

Azerbaijan's nominal GDP in January 2026 amounted to 9 billion 78.7 million manats (almost 4.5 billion euros), the real growth of the economy compared to January last year amounted to 1.7%, Logos Press reports.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the oil and gas sector grew by 0.6% in the reporting month, while other industries grew by 2.3%.

In the structure of GDP production, industry accounted for 33.9% of GDP production, trade and repair of vehicles – 11.7%, transport and warehousing – 7.8%, construction – 3.6%, agriculture, forestry and fishing – 3.3%, tourist accommodation and catering – 2.4%, information and communication – 2.2%, other sectors – 23.4%, net taxes on products and imports amounted to 11.7% of GDP.

In the past month, net taxes on products and imports amounted to 11.7% of GDP.

GDP per capita for January amounted to 885 manat (about 443 euros).

It is worth noting that the other day the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) improved its GDP growth forecast for 2026. Chairman of the regulator Taleh Kazimov said at a press conference that this year the country’s economy is forecasted to grow at 2.4%, including about 4% in the non-oil and gas sector.

In 2027, growth is forecast to accelerate to 2.9%, and in the non-oil and gas sector – to 4.3%,” Media.Az reported.

Azerbaijan’s GDP grew by 1.4% in 2025.
