According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the number of building permits issued in rural areas fell 17.1% year-on-year to 53.3% of all permits issued last year.
In contrast, the number of certificates issued in urban areas rose by 2.4% to 46.7% of all permits in 2025.
Compared to 2024, the number of residential building permits decreased in the central, southern, northern regions and in Chisinau. At the same time, there was an increase in the number of permits in Gagauzia.
As for non-residential buildings, last year the number of authorizations decreased in the capital, northern and central regions, while in Gagauzia there was an increase.
A total of 2161 authorizations for residential buildings (-5.1%) and 794 for non-residential buildings (-18.3%) were issued during the year.
In 2024, Moldova issued 3248 building permits, which was 4.9% less than a year earlier.
