The length of service is a prerequisite for pension accrual. It includes insurance periods when a person worked and the company paid social taxes for him. And also non-insurance periods, when contributions were not paid. But according to the law, these periods are still counted when establishing the size of the pension. These include:
– fixed-term service in the army;
– military service under contract;
– period of care for a child under the age of three by one of the parents or guardian;
– the period of receiving temporary disability benefits (sick leave), unemployment benefits;
– the period of caring for a severely disabled child under the age of 18 or a severely disabled person before being hired as a personal assistant;
– residency period;
– work in a collective farm, regardless of its nature and duration;
– creative activity of members of creative unions, confirmed by the secretariats of the boards of creative unions before January 1, 1999;
– activity as clergy from April 1, 1992 to January 1, 1999;
– full-time studies at higher education institutions until January 1, 1999;
– participation in combat actions for the defense of territorial integrity and independence of Moldova in the period from March 2 to August 13, 1992, which is included in the insurance record in triple amount.
Before 1999, the main document confirming the employee’s length of service was the labor book. After January 1, 1999, it is confirmed automatically – on the basis of data from the individual social insurance account.
If a labor book is lost, has errors or missing entries, the insurance record can be restored and confirmed legally by submitting other documents. These are certificates from the place of work, extracts from orders, personal accounts of the employee with data on wages, archival documents and other official documents confirming periods of work.
To obtain them, it is necessary to apply to the enterprise or organization of the former employee. If the organization is liquidated, contact its legal successor or the archive and collect all possible documents confirming the periods of work.
In extreme cases, when it is impossible to confirm the length of service by documents, the issue can be resolved through the court.
It should be noted that in order to receive a full pension, you need to have at least 34 years of insurance service. If the length of service is from 15 to 34 years, the employee receives an incomplete pension in proportion to the number of years worked. If the length of service is less than 15 years, a social benefit – half of the minimum retirement pension – is granted.
