Vladislav Kulminsky
Responding to a question from the host about whether Europe would have been able to maintain its own defense without U.S. assistance, Kulminski noted the seriousness of the U.S. administration’s efforts to end the war.
“I wouldn’t want to go into hypothetical scenarios, but I think the Trump administration’s efforts are very serious and deep. One of the best diplomats in the world, Marco Rubio, is working on this around the clock. So I think the odds of, you know, this war being stopped are pretty high. And I do expect this war to end within the next six months,” Kulminski said.
According to the ambassador, Russia’s economic situation is deteriorating and Russia “would probably like to stop the war.”
“Russia’s economy is not feeling the best right now. I think Russia would probably like to stop the war, but it realizes that stopping the war would mean a historic defeat for the Russian Federation. A defeat of such proportions is perhaps hard to find in Russian history, because it set out to reshape the region, to change the borders – and failed.”
Culminski emphasized that U.S. support remains vital for Moldova.
“And I must say that the United States of America, including the current administration, has played a key role in containing Russia and in preventing the expansion of the war. Had it not been for the actions of the U.S. administration, it is quite possible that Russia would have expanded the war beyond Ukraine – to other countries, such as the Republic of Moldova, which it considers part of its ‘historical sphere of influence,’ whatever that means.”
And you know how wars develop: they involve other countries and other powers. This could create a geopolitical vortex and a massive reshaping of the world that no one could stop. Therefore, the efforts of this administration to stop the war – for Moldova – are absolutely correct,” Culminschi said.
In conclusion, the ambassador said that the goal of the international efforts is precisely the cessation of hostilities.
“We are not talking about defeating Russia or inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, but about stopping the war. This is what everyone expects today.”
