Assistance is provided to farmers who were forced to reseed about 5,000 hectares of dead sugar beet crops due to spring frosts, as well as to orchardists who lost part of their fruit and nut crops (almonds) due to the same reason. Compensation was also offered to winegrowers in Cahul district, whose plantations were affected by a severe storm on July 21.
On September 10, the Commission for Emergency Situations approved the allocation of a fund of 100 million lei to compensate for the damage.
It should be recalled that soon after the two waves of frosts in April-May, the specialists of the Moldova Fruct Association estimated the damage to the fruit-growing sector due to the need to carry out additional agro-technological operations, as well as due to the potential shortfall in yields at about 450 million lei.
