
According to the National Commission of Medical Insurance (NCMI), today mental health services in Moldovan hospitals are provided by 3 republican psychiatric hospitals and 1 district hospital, with which NCMI has concluded contracts.
In addition, 63 million lei – plus 7.5 million lei – have been allocated for mental health services at the level of family medicine and mental health centers.
Patients can also benefit from compensated medicines for the treatment of diseases such as dementia, schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, epilepsy with mental disorders, prescribed by a family doctor or psychiatrist. A total of 17 medications are eligible for reimbursement. During 8 months of 2025, more than 13 thousand people received such medicines with compensation worth 13 million lei.
The NCMI emphasized that mental illnesses can be treated or controlled if detected in time.
