According to the Ministry of Education, 426 young specialists were employed in schools and kindergartens in the current academic year, which is the highest figure in recent years. Last year, 404 young specialists were employed in educational institutions, 365 in 2023 and 296 in 2022.
Of the total number of those employed, the most preferred to work as elementary school teacher (89), educator (74), Romanian language teacher (36) and history teacher (23).
As for the regional distribution, the majority of graduates preferred to work in institutions from Chisinau, ATU Gagauzia, Balti, Orhei and Ialoveni.
As it was mentioned at the celebration of the Teacher’s Day, organized by the Metropolitan Department of Education, the educational network of Chisinau has more than 330 institutions – kindergartens, schools, lyceums, centers and sports schools. They employ more than 17 thousand employees, of which about 10 700 are pedagogical and managerial staff. Thus, about 35% or almost every third teacher of the country is employed in the capital. The winners of the capital’s contest for the title of the best teacher of the year received cash prizes: for the first place – 50,000 lei, for the second – 25,000 lei, for the third – 15,000 lei.
The young specialists who go to work in schools and kindergartens in the country receive a lump-sum payment of up to 200,000 lei, a 75% reduction of the teaching load in the first 5 years, compensations for teaching materials, support for housing and utilities in rural areas or district centers, annual leave of up to 62 days and assistance from a mentor-teacher.
On the eve of Teachers’ Day, which is celebrated annually on October 5, Education Minister Dan Perciun called on teachers to strictly observe professional ethics and refrain from any manifestation of corruption or taking bribes.
“Public trust in the education system directly depends on the transparency and honesty of teachers,” the minister emphasized in his notice to schools.
