
As notes “Kommersant”, in January-July sales of sparkling wine from Brazil and Serbia in Russian retail increased several hundred times – up to 4.5 thousand decaliters (dal) and 1.5 thousand dal respectively.
Demand for wines from Belarus increased almost 14 times, up to 29 thousand dal, from India – 11 times, up to 0.8 thousand dal. Sales of wine from Moldova increased by 251.6%, up to 8.8 thousand dal, from Chile – by 214.9%, up to 24.6 thousand dal, from South Africa – by 126.8%, up to 11.7 thousand dal. Notable growth is also seen in drinks from Greece, Israel, Azerbaijan, but this is mainly due to last year’s almost zero base.
Despite the growth, Moldova’s share in the Russian market of champagne wines and sparkling beverages remains extremely low – less than 0.1%, which does not allow the country to enter even the top ten suppliers.
In Q1 2025, total exports of bottled sparkling wines from Moldova amounted to $1.5 million (+16% year-on-year).
Moldovan sparkling wines are gaining popularity in the international market, and the growth in exports indicates the growing interest in this segment, writes specialized publication wine-intelligence.com.
