The measure is contained in the government’s decision on the allocation of 253.6 million lei from the state budget for the implementation of a string of actions envisaged in the economic growth plan.
The reorganization of the CFM involves delimitation, valuation and registration of assets, and replacement of financial management systems.
Earlier, the CFM’s Board of Directors approved changes in the enterprise’s structure, as regards the organization of the activity and the staff. In particular, it is planned to merge the passenger and freight transportation services, to create a rolling stock service by merging the locomotive and wagon services and to create combined depots in the northern (Balti), central (Chisinau) and southern (Basarabeasca) regions. It is also envisaged to concentrate signaling and telecommunication, line maintenance and power supply activities in one infrastructure service.
According to the current administration of the company, “the optimization of costs, reduction of financial losses and increase in the efficiency of the activity, thanks to the implementation of institutional reorganization measures, have already allowed recording positive dynamics in the financial field”. In January 2025, 42.5 million lei was needed to replenish the labor payment fund, and 29 million lei for June.
It is worth mentioning that on August 22, the deadline for accepting documents for the contest to fill the post of Administrator of the State Enterprise “Moldovan Railways” expires.
The cabinet decision adopted today also provides for the elaboration of an “investment profile” of the state-owned enterprises, for which the privatization procedure will be launched. The government will allocate 3.7 million lei for this purpose. The decision does not specify the enterprises in question.
