Within its framework, the German Ministry of Economy allocated grants worth €35 thousand to three youth centers – in Chisinau, Balti and Ungheni – to organize and conduct sports activities, including for young people from vulnerable groups.

In addition, training sessions were organized for trainers, aimed at developing skills of self-esteem, responsibility, goal setting, using sports for social inclusion and teamwork. A German trainer participated. The methodology was included in the implementation plan of the Sport 2030 strategy for the next three years. More than ten local trainers were trained.

According to Marcel Marin, head of the Youth and Sports Department at the Ministry of Education, the results of the joint work demonstrate a viable model that can be integrated and expanded in sectoral policies.

Project Manager Rolf Peter said: Moldova has the potential to become a regional example in using sport to promote engagement and personal development.

The goals realized through the project are part of the Moldovan government’s Action Plan reflected in the National Strategy for Sport Development until 2030.
