Earlier, Logos Press, referring to the opinion of the representatives of the Association of Patronage of Meat Processing Industries PÎIPC, assumed that the quota would be fully utilized by the meat market operators in Moldova by the end of the first week of August. The forecast came true exactly.
The law allowing Moldovan meat market operators to import 1.2 thousand tons of frozen pork free of customs duty was published and entered into force on July 18. Its expiration date was set as October 31, 2025. Pork importers did not need that much time.
According to PÎIPC’s preliminary information, a large part of the quota was chosen by meat processors. A smaller part of it was imported by traders who sell it on the domestic market (and possibly also on the Transnistrian market). Accordingly, the level of market prices for chilled pork of local production will be slightly affected by this product.
