
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), out of the total number of voters included in the State Register of Voters as of August 1, 2025, 2,759,169 citizens with the right to vote are assigned to second-level administrative-territorial units – districts, Chisinau and Balti municipalities and ATU Gagauzia. The difference of more than 541 thousand people is made up by persons who have citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, but do not have a propiska at the place of residence or place of stay. This includes those who have officially emigrated outside the country (262,388 people), as well as citizens with the right to vote registered at their place of residence in the left bank of the Nistru River (276,886 people).
At the same time, the number of voters registered in settlements on the left bank of the Nistru River increased by 2,355 people, while the number of those who officially emigrated outside the country, on the contrary, decreased – by almost 25,000 people, according to the Register. In the second round of the 2024 presidential elections, 327851 people voted abroad.
The CEC notes that until August 14 inclusive, citizens abroad can pre-register to participate in the 2025 parliamentary elections on the website: https://inregistrare.cec.md.
Also, the commission approved recently the composition of the electoral councils of the municipal and district electoral districts, for the localities on the left bank of the Nistru river, as well as for the polling stations established abroad. The first meeting of the chairmen of the 37 electoral councils will be held on Saturday, August 2.
