
Ilya Snitsar won two trophies in two weeks and significantly improved his position in the ATP rankings
In the doubles final, the 23-year-old Snitsar and 25-year-old Roncadelli defeated Oleksandr Ovcharenko (Ukraine) and Juan Pablo Paz (Argentina) 5:7, 6:4, 10:5.
Before reaching the final, Snitariu and Roncadelli lost to three pairs of Romanian tennis players: Calin Apostol and Dan Alexandru Tomescu (6:4, 6:2), Mihai Răzvan Marinescu and Daniel Uta (6:4, 6:0), and in the semifinals to Gabriel Getu and Radu David Turcanu (6:4, 6:4).
It should be noted that in singles, Snitzer and Roncadelli faced each other in a face-to-face encounter in the second round, with the Uruguayan tennis player winning 5:7, 3:6. Franco Roncadelli reached the final of the tournament, where he lost to Italian Carlo Alberto Cagnato (3:6, 2:6).
The prize fund of the M25 tournament in Bacau amounted to $30 thousand. Ilya Snitsar earned $2.277, of which $1.782 – as the winner of the doubles tournament, and $495 – as a participant of the second round in the individual event.
The balance of the native of Chisinau in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) ranking was enlarged by 26 points (25 – for the victory in doubles).
Roncadelli’s prize money, in turn, amounted to $4,483 ($2,701 for reaching the singles final and $1,782 for winning the doubles tournament). In the ATP rankings, his balance increased by 41 points, including 16 points for reaching the singles final.
A week earlier, Ilie Snitari won the M15 tournament in Slobozia, Romania. The victory at the doubles tournament in Bacau was his second of the season. This allowed him to climb 104 positions in the ATP ranking in a week. At the moment, the Moldovan tennis player is ranked 617th in the world.
