Iwona Piórko
Janis Mazeiks heads the EU Delegation in Chisinau since September 2021. His mandate ends in September and the EU is ready to appoint a new ambassador. Iwona Piórko also completes her mandate as Head of the Embassy in Singapore.
The Polish diplomat has been working in the EU structures since 2005: she was responsible for the integration of migrants and was a member of the teams of European Commissioners Stefan Fule and Federica Mogherini. She has a PhD in political science (University of Sussex), speaks fluent English, French and Spanish, and understands German and Russian.
