These data were released by the Investment Agency in connection with the preparation of the Export Vision presentation of export opportunities in the Netherlands on July 8. The event will be held at Digital Park with the support of the World Bank Group and the Competitiveness Project.
At the same time, the Netherlands is among the top 15 largest export partners of Moldova. In 2024, Moldova’s exports to this country exceeded 47 million euros.
The Agency said that these figures confirm not only the increased interest of the Netherlands in Moldovan goods and services, but also the significant potential for economic expansion.
It should be noted that a total of 3.8 thousand companies with direct foreign investments are registered in Moldova.
About 81.5% of direct foreign investments come from the European Union. The share of investments from CIS countries is 6%. The top five largest investor countries are Romania, Cyprus, Holland, Italy, Germany.
The main investments of foreigners are directed to four sectors: manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, information and communications, financial activities and insurance. These four sectors generate about 63% of the total volume of all companies with foreign capital in the country.
According to the director of the Investment Agency, Natalia Bejan, Moldova will reach a historical maximum in terms of foreign money inflows in 2024. In general, they are estimated at 5.6 billion euros. Over the last three years, about 80% of the direct foreign capital is reinvested profit. This fact shows that investors do not take out of the country the money they have earned, but invest it in further business development.
