Deliveries abroad for this commodity item were made to the amount of $16.7 million. In 2023, exports of live animals were estimated at $8.7 million, the National Bureau of Statistics reported.
At the same time, as noted in the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, supplies abroad of meat and by-products fell (from $4.5 million to $3.8 million), the added value of which is noticeably higher.
This confirms the trend clearly traceable in crop production: exporters prefer to sell not products processed on the territory of Moldova, but agricultural products as raw materials, with minimal added value.
Exports of milk and dairy products, eggs to other countries also decreased – from $13.7 million to $12 million.
At the same time, sales of fish increased sharply – from $18.5 thousand to $235.5 thousand. This is a record for all the years of Moldova’s existence, although it is small in value.
At the same time, it should be noted that although exports of goods of the group “Live animals and products of animal origin” in 2024 increased by 25% compared to 2023, to $35 million against $28 million a year earlier, these figures are very far from record highs.
For example, in 2014, this commodity item exported $59.7 million worth of products.
