According to the Association Moldova Fruct, the largest amount of Moldovan apples in May this year was shipped to Russia (5.7 thousand tons), Romania (1.7 thousand tons) and Ukraine (almost 1 thousand tons).
May exports of apples turned out to be slightly above the forecast, initially quite modest. Taking into account low stocks of export-quality fruit, some operators suggested that in May exports of apples were unlikely to exceed 5-7 thousand tons. In the last few years supplies of apples from Moldova to foreign markets fluctuated within 8-13 thousand tons. The maximum May export of this commodity in the five-year period was recorded in 2020 – almost 25 thousand tons.
In June, last year’s export of apples from RM usually does not exceed 3-5 thousand tons. Taking into account this fact, it can be assumed that Moldova Fruct’s forecast of the final export of apples of the 2024 harvest from the Republic of Moldova in the range of 105-110 thousand tons will be correct.
