
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, enterprises of railway, road, river and air transport carried 3.9 million tons of cargo, which is 1.6% lower than in January-March 2024. Cargo turnover amounted to 1,161.7 million tonne-kilometers, down 12.4% year-on-year from last year’s figures.
Road transport accounts for the bulk (86%) of the transported cargo (3.4 million tons). Here, too, some growth in volumes (+1.1%) is registered, but a significant decrease in cargo turnover to the final point along the route (-10.5%).
Road transport enterprises report a predominant number of domestic trips – 2.4 million tons (71.1% of the total volume), in contrast to international transportation – 1.0 million tons (28.9%).
Rail, air and river transport show both a decline in volume and range of cargo. Transportation of goods by rail decreased by 15.7%, and travel time decreased by 29.7%. By air, cargo turnover decreased by a quarter of last year’s volume.
